I am Rifumo Mathebula grew up in an impoverished area near the Kruger National Park. I first did the Wild Shots Outreach course in 2016 when I was still at school. Seeing wildlife for the first time changed my life. I began volunteering with WSO, loved the teaching, took on more responsibility and was promoted to Programme Director in 2020.  Over the past 3 years I  taught photography to > 600 young people and taken them on their first ever game drive. I delivered the Wild Shots Outreach programmes in Botswana, working with local communities living alongside Protected Areas.

I am one of Canon’s Online Academy Tutors. Through Canon’s Young People Program, I’m also running online photography workshops for young people from the world’s “least developed countries” including Angola, Myanmar and Sierra Leone. Awards include –
