In the early days of COVID, when everyone was locked behind their doors, our garden in Amanzimtoti became our ‘Game Reserve’. With mature, established trees it was a haven for birds of all sizes – sunbirds to crowned eagles and everything in between – and so I would take daily walks with our toddler with my camera in hand… just in case. I happened to look up into the canopy of trees and managed to get a couple of quick shots (in very poor light!) before the African Paradise Flycatcher zipped off!
