A Hump-backed Whale breaches, rising up from the surface of Algoa Bay. These whales spend a part of the year on the east coast of South Africa, and on calm days, like this one, can be viewed by boat. Hump-backed Whales do breach quite often, giving us a fleeting glimpse of their massive form. Onshore and directly behind the whale, the dune fields of Alexandria gave a sense of scale to the calm scene.
