Bat-eared Foxes are my absolute favorite animals. Therefore you would forgive my disappointment when it took a whole of three trips to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park – a place known for regular Bat-eared Fox sightings – until I got a glimpse. Only a glimpse it was though, and so it was that I remained unsatisfied with my faraway shot of these magnificent little creatures. That is, until the very next trip when I came across a pair of them foraging at eye level. It was fascinating to watch them tilt their ears like radar dishes homing in on small subterranean morsels.
