Mapungubwe National Park in Limpopo Province is quite well known for its historical sites and the famous golden rhino figurine, but probably an insiders’ tip if it comes to wildlife. I was completely flashed by its landscape reaching from granite hills with huge boulders down to the Limpopo River. Especially the boulders gave lots of photographic opportunities, even for animals which we normally see in their typical savannah environment.
One morning I came across this giraffe feeding amongst the gargantuan boulders – even an animal of this size/height seems to be dwarfed amongst the boulders. I tried to include as much of the unique landscape as I could to create a different image of a giraffe, still one of my favorite animalscapes.
