A fascinating place: Down in the valley of the reserve we visited, the vegetation is typical of the Nama Karoo (lots of bushes, shrubs and succulents). However, as you drive up the hills, you find yourself in the savannah biome – open plains and dry grasslands.
We drove to a viewpoint from where you could see into the hills of Mount Camdeboo. At the very top lay this majestic lion in the shade of a tree to escape the midday summer’s heat. As this male got up and turned around, he looked at the ground with a facial expression that appeared as if he was reflecting on something.
