While hosting a workshop in the Madikwe Game Reserve, we spent an afternoon at one of my favourite dams on the reserve. Usually it’s extremely productive with pachyderms in beautiful back lighting. The afternoon went according to plan, but with one massive surprise after the sun had set behind the 2 Inselbergs to the west. A pack of African Wild dogs arrived at the dam, and immediately started causing chaos. The light was extremely low at this point, but there was a window of beautiful light reflecting off the water, framed by the reflections of the inselbergs reflections. I waited, hoping that one of the endangered dogs would walk into this window and my prayers were answered. This created a beautiful natural vignette.
